Denia lies on the Mediterranean, just north of the Montgó mountain, about 100 kilometers south of Valencia. There are many flights to Alicante and Valencia.
From
Alicante it is also about 100
kilometers by car to Denia.Denia is the point where the railway from Alicante ends, which swings through all seaside resorts.
Denia has about 40.000 residents. There are
different beaches, large ones north
of the city as well
as small ones south of the port. Tourism, as well as the accommodations
have a relatively small scale. Denia is a town with a long history which goes back to the Roman times. The name Denia has been derived from the godess
Diana.
There is a
medieval castle on top of a small rock, right in the center of te town.
For shopping many galleries are found and the shaded main street
Marques de Campo is tempting to have a drink or to dine. Denia
has
a real good choice of restaurants in
all price ranges. There are many ways to be active with sports. For swimming, windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, mountain biking, golf, scuba diving and many other sports there are numerous opportunities.
The
Montgó mountain at
the southside of Denia is a nature reserve
with hiking trails. Denia has two marinas and there are ferries to
Ibiza.
Especially in the summer there are all kinds of fiestas and markets. The inland of this part of the Costa Blanca consists of beautiful and spectacular mountain landscapes.
